Australia 2, Danilo Hadjukovic and Anto Abramovic

Sifu Danilo Hadjukovic:

I was born in December 1967 in Croatia and migrated to Australia in the summer of 1970. My interest in martial arts was sparked in 1981, my inspiration was the film "Enter The Dragon", the star of course was "Bruce Lee". After practicing Tae Kwon Do for 9 years, a life long friend Anto Abramovic introduced me to an alternate style of martial art called "Wing Chun Kung Fu" taught by Allan Graham. Allan Graham (Si-fu), founder of "Canberra Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy" was teaching a system of Wing Chun derived from his teachers, the late Jim Fung (Sifu), Felix Leong (Si-fu) and in later years Wan Kam Leung (Si-fu). Those who witnessed my early years of training in Wing Chun could attest to my casual attendance and would agree I had not quite settled on a preferred system. I therefore decided to take a break from Wing Chun and embarked on a cross training quest over the next 4 years. Some of the styles I studied were....various other Wing Chun Schools, Karate, Choy Lay Fut, Hung Gar, Western Boxing and Grappling.

After a fashion, I returned to Allan Graham's school on a casual basis and in 2004 embarked on their annual training trip to Hong Kong and was introduced to Grand Master Wan Kam Leung and his system of "Practical Wing Chun Kung Fu". There was no question in my mind that I had found both the martial arts system and Grand Master to affiliate myself with 100%. Grand Master Wan Kam Leung is a humble, intelligent and brilliant martial artist. Well into his 60's in age and only of slight to medium build, he constantly amazes all who train with him with his sublime skill and effortless power. On the 7th of September 2006, after 25 years training in the martial arts, I had finally reached a level of competence that was rewarded with an "Instructor's Accreditation" directly under Grand Master Wan Kam Leung, along with permission to open an Australian branch of his Kung Fu system. I look forward to many more years of dedicated learning from Wan Si-Gung and teaching with the continued passion that has defined my character to this day.

Sifu Anto Abramovic:

My name is Sifu Anto Abramovic and I was born on the 26th November 1970 in Croatia. On the 7th September 2006 I was awarded the title of “Instructor” under Grand Master Wan Kam Leung. In 2006 Grand Master Wan Kam Leung has granted permission to open a branch in Canberra of his Wing Chun style.

I and my good life long friend Danny have decided to undertake the teaching and further exploration of Master Wan’s Kung Fu system. We hope to introduce our students to this simple but effective combat style.

I have invested the last 20 years learning Wing Chun. For many of those I studied under Sifu Allan Graham whose reputation as a practitioner is highly regarded in both Australia and Hong Kong. In the late 1990’s I began to visit Hong Kong to learn under Master Wan. Master Wan is an amazing and well disciplined Wing Chun fighter and teacher who although in his 60’s can defeat any highly ranked opponent and anyone that I have known in my long learning process. Meeting master Wan and learning under him is by the far the best thing that has happened during my training as a Wing Chun practitioner.

I am a great admirer of Mast Wan’s system and fighting skills. His style prepares the individual to deal with any type of threatening scenario and to achieve success in spite of the odds.

The student must be disciplined, obedient and willing to commit time and effort to hone their martial skills for defence and fighting. The mastery of Wing Chun’s three empty hand forms, the trapping hands techniques, the punching drills, the kicking skills, the wooden dummy techniques, and the sticking hands sparring are key to transcend to the intermediate levels towards becoming a well rounded Wing Chun fighter.

Finally, I have trained under Carlos Barrero at the Turner and the Ginnaderra’s PCYC gyms in both boxing and hand to hand combat scenarios, Those skills together with my Wing Chun make me confident in undertaking the teaching of Master Wan’s kung fu style. I welcome any potential students and wish them well in their learning.
